PHOTOS FROM MY ABSOLUTELY FAVORITE PLACE BY AMBER MOZO
Tahiti is my little piece of heaven.
My Dad started visiting Tahiti in the 90's. He was drawn to the shades of blue in the waves, it was his favorite place to photograph. He took my family and I down there in 2002 and ever since then, I've made it my mission to make sure I visit as often as I can. Every time I get off the plane I immediately feel this rush of happiness then, peace in my heart.
I land on the island of Tahiti, sleep at my uncles house for the night, then first thing in the morning, I head to the ferry to cross the channel to Moorea. Moorea is where I spend majority of my time. We stay on the ocean and spend our whole trip outdoors. Biking around the island, kayaking to little motus (little islands), swimming at the sandbar with the sharks and sting rays, or hitch hiking for boat rides to outer reefs to surf. Visiting Tahiti over the years and shooting underwater photos, is really how I fell in love with underwater photography. There is so much ocean life to photograph and the ocean is warm and inviting. Im happiest when I'm out exploring the ocean Tahitians are the happiest people in the world. They are constantly kissing, hugging, smiling and laughing. They always make me feel like I belong. I love how the simple things make them so happy. Like catching a big fish, good weather, playing music together, and spending time with friends and family. Its a good reminder for me to remember to keep life simple and to be grateful for the little things. Tahiti will always have a piece of my heart and I plan on taking my taking my future family there one day :)
